Climbing Equipment

Will I be secured while climbing?

We use state of the art technology to ensure you always stay attached. When you arrive, an instructor will issue you with a Clic-it. This is made up of two communicating carabiners which mean that there's no way you can ever detach yourself from the safety system. You’ll also receive a full safety briefing from an instructor which will teach you how to use the system

Can small children use the course?

We’ve included a Junior Course, which is designed for small children, so the whole family can take part in the adventure. The Junior Course is mounted at a height of approximately 60 – 100 cm above the ground and is for use by people 1 metre to 1.4 metres tall.
For the main course, everyone needs to be at least 6 years old and 1.2 metres tall. Anyone under 10 years old or less then 1.4 metres tall will need to be accompanied by an adult over 18 please.

How long will the whole adventure take?

On the adult course, the whole session will last approximately 90 minutes. This includes time for you to be fitted with safety equipment, briefed by your instructor and the chance to have a supervised practice session on the ground to make sure you understand how to use the safety system. If you’ve also chosen to go on "The Drop" you’ll need to make sure you fit this in during your time on the course.

On the junior course, you'll also be given a safety briefing which will be included in your adventure with us!

What should I wear?

Please visit the Before Your Adventure page which tells you everything you need to know!

Health & Safety

Do I need to be fit?

Conquering Altitude44 will require a degree of physical fitness but if you are able to climb a ladder you should be fine. There is also a height and weight restriction. The weight limit is 120 kilograms (18.5 stone) and the height restrictions are:
Mini Course: 1 metre – 1.4 metres
Main course: minimum 1.2 metres

What if I have a pre‐existing medical condition?

The staff at Altitude44 are not medically qualified and will not be able to assess how capable you are. It is your responsibility to undertake an assessment before you arrive. We advise you to seek your own advice and examine the high wire yourself before deciding whether to book. If you would like more information about the course, please Contact Us

What if I am pregnant?

Our policy strongly recommends pregnant women not to take part. However, the choice is yours and we would suggest you seek professional medical advice on the matter. The waiver you will be asked to sign at the start of the activity states that the activity is not suitable for those who are pregnant. If you sign this waiver and continue with the activity you do so in the full knowledge that we do not recommend you take part.

Can anyone take part?

Altitude44 wishes to be as inclusive as possible, however our high wire does offer a degree of physical and mental challenge and this may mean that safe participation is not possible for those who require certain support. For some the risk of injury may be too great despite any measures that can be offered. We try our best to make Altitude44 available to everyone so please Contact Us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

What if I need help?

Every session is supervised by our qualified instructors. If you need any assistance during your session they will be on hand to help you out. Unfortunately our instructors cannot accompany individuals around the entire course as they have to look after everyone on the session. If you think you need extra help, please Contact Us and we will see what we can do for you.
